Constructed in the 1920s for the Lincoln Furniture Company, the Lincoln Building became a vibrant social hub as a dance hall and jazz venue where legends took the stage. Our renovation honors this storied past by carefully restoring the building’s defining proportions, repairing ornamental brickwork and masonry, and reinstituting original window openings to preserve its rhythmic façade.
Contemporary interventions are woven discreetly into the historic fabric: high-performance glazing enhances daylight and thermal performance, while invisible envelope upgrades reduce energy use without compromising the aesthetic. Inside, a flexible open-plan layout readily accommodates today's needs. Exposed brick walls, original refinished hardwood floors, and the historic stairs discovered during demolition remain on view as reminders of the building’s heritage.
Updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems boost efficiency, indoor air quality, and occupant comfort. Fully accessible routes, updated life-safety measures, and ADA-compliant restrooms ensure modern code compliance. By blending preservation best practices with advanced building science, this renovation breathes new life into the Lincoln Building and will allow its jazz-age spirit to resonate for future generations.
